Antique Mid 19th Century Rare, Russian Hand Manufactured Pocket Snuff Box in Black Lacquered Papier Mache finished with a Gouache hand painted portrait in a Renaissance style of that of a Lady in traditional Dress with Curled Ringlets in her hair.

In Good Antique Condition the box shows some age related wear including crackling to the lacquer finished and Gouache paint work as well as there being a small chip to the corner of the lid to the box in one place, nothing serious.

The Box lid runs well on hinge fitting and the box interior retains its original ox-blood lacquer with only mild signs of wear commensurate with age and use.

The Inside lid to the box is impressed with a manufacturers mark/ Imperial seal including Cyrillic lettering.

The Box when closed shut measures 8.3 cm x 5.3 cm x 2.4 cm in dimension or 3.2 x 2.2 x 1 inches in dimension and weighs 63 grams or 2.2 Ounces.

Makes for a Fabulous late Nicholas I era Collectible piece as well as still being perfectly useable.
