Antique Late Victorian period circa 1890 Well Preserved Example of a Scottish Manufactured Mauchline Ware Box in Carved Sycamore, Featuring the lithograph Printed image of the Sandringham Hotel in Hunstanton, Norfolk, England to the box lid the item is in original condition more or less and would have served for a variety of uses including Trinket box and table snuff box.
Mauchline Ware was popular during the latter part of the 19th Century, themed with a focus on Souvenir Wares that came in all manner of useful manifestations From Book Covers to Boxes, Match Vesta Cases to Blotters, this way everybody could take home a piece of where they visited, the most prominent travellers amassing quite a collection of fond memories as well as useful objects within the home.
This Lovely Antique Box is in original condition more or less and measures 9 cm x 7 cm x 3.7 cm or 3.5 inches x 2.8 inches x 1.4 inches in dimension and weighs 60 Grams or 2.11 Ounces.
Still very much useable it makes for a fabulous antique collectible piece as well as a fine addition to an existing or 'just starting out' collection of Souvenir Mauchline Ware.
