Antique Mid 19th Century Early Victorian Period Top Quality Card Case in Sterling Silver Presented in Original tooled leather clad, fitted case.
Of an ornate design the card case features a duo of cartouches, one to either side of the body each engraved with a pictorial including two birds bathing upon a Fountain and a Funerary Urn dressed with Blue-Bells both in the Georgian Style, the case is finished with deep chased foliate details to complete.
Featuring a strong hinged lid that opens and closes without issue and retaining interior velvet lining the case is impressed to the inside lip with good clear markings indicating Birmingham assay office circa 1846 with the makers mark for Edward Smith of Cox Street, Birmingham, also present is the Duty mark for Queen Victoria.
The Case when closed shut measures 10 cm x 7.5 cm x 8 m in dimension, present to the inside lid to the fitted case is the original jewellers label indicating "W Mott Of London".
A Handsome example of the period, very good condition for age with only light wear present.
