Antique Late 19th Century Top Quality Card Case in Sterling Silver Presented in Original tooled leather clad, fitted case.
Of traditional design the card case features a fantastic engine turned patterned body with the front bearing a vacant buckle cartouche for engraving, boasting a swagged foliate over toned edge the case boasts a strong hinged lid that opens and closes without issue and is impressed to the inside lip with good clear markings indicating Birmingham assay office circa 1899 with the makers mark for Collins & Cook of Carver Street, Birmingham, also present is the Duty mark for Queen Victoria.
The Case when closed shut measures 9.7 cm x 7 cm x 8 m in dimension making this to indeed be a very handsome example of the period, in original condition more or less.
