Ola May Gorie -Ola Gorie

Ola Gorie is a Scottish jewellery designer, one of the founders of the modern Celtic Craft movement in Scotland particularly in Orkney isles, where she has lived and produced here jewellery since the 1960s. Born in October 27th 1937 now 83 years old.

She is probably best known for her silver Celtic designed jewellery however makes designs in 9ct gold too.The designs tend to be of an organic Celtic art and crafts style.

Her mark is OMG normally with a full Scottish hallmark for Edinburgh assay office, she was most prolific in the 1970s and 1980s and her designs are still made today and of course suitably expensive compared to the antiques trade.

The tree of life and owl brooches are some of her most iconic designs, great stuff to collect and hunt for, will be up there with other designers as time goes by like Alexander Ritchie & Archibald Know & William Heir Hassler. Robert Allison too does similar jewellery in the 1970s and 1980s and even 1990s but doesn't seem to have the same stylish designs that Ola Gorie does and therefore as yet not as collectable and valuable.
