Antique Georgian Period Superb Quality Sterling Silver Vinaigrette in a lozenge pattern finished with a turned pattern lid with central set rectangular cartouche, foliate gallery chased lip and fluted side wall, good piano hinged spine and turned underside finishing the piece nicely, the vinaigrette opens smoothly to reveal a fantastic interior featuring a heavily gilded, fretworked and pierced hinged grille featuring a stylised love heart with gothic adornments within a a studded, fluted closed gallery frame.
The Vinaigrette when closed shut measures 3.7 cm x 2.4 cm x 1 cm in dimension, is in undamaged, original condition with all gilding intact to the interior and retains crisp, clear impressed markings indicating Birmingham assay office circa 1822 with the makers mark for Joseph Wilmore of Bread Street, Birmingham.
A Fine example of the period, one that will make for a lovely centre piece to any collection.
