Antique Late Victorian Period Rare example of a Surviving Fob Vesta case in sterling silver superbly detailed to one side with the portrait image of a Jack Russell Dog in enamel work, beautifully detailed the enamel portrait was likely a commission piece of the period for the owner of the Vesta case which is is without damages, dings, repairs and only shows little signs of wear, tell tale striking of matches to the foot of the vesta only.

Featuring a push button spring plate lid in excellent working order the top of the vesta lid features a static lug and bale so as to serve for when wearing as a fob item in an albert chain or similar.
When closed shut the vesta measures 5 cm x 4 cm x 8 mm in dimension and is impressed with good clear markings indicating Birmingham assay office circa 1887 with the makers mark for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings of Bartlett's Passage, Holborn Circus, London, also present is the Duty mark for Queen Victoria, the year 1887 being her Gold Jubilee.
