What is an Etui?
In essence a sewing kit, normally containing scissors, thimble, needle,and button hooks.
Often these can be in miniature, and often are contained in unusual or novelty items.
Sometimes the cases are beyond works of art in precious stones and metal and even rock crystal. Normally the tools are good quality gilded steel or silver or even gold, even gentle woman would of sought high status items to make a statement about their wealth and status.
