What is a reliquary
It is a religious part of an saint or similar very holy person, could be a body part but more likely to be a piece of scripture, cloth, clothing etc, something tangible owned by the religious person.
Sometime could even be a photo in more modern items the item pictured is Spanish colonial c1820 and the locket will contain the relic.
Much like mourning jewellery highly collectable and useful in today world and making a great wearable item of jewellery.
