Guaranteed the one bedroom flat, how can that be?
Almost everything we receive into the shop is reused from envelopes, all paper cardboard boxes, pallets. We even use egg cartons plastic P.E.T bottles, cleaned of course, as space fillers for shipping our goods.
In fact we avidly scour skips and shops for boxes and packing to use.
The only plastic we get is from the post and nearly all of it is reused in packing.
Most plastic packaging cant be recycled in particular the film and cling film etc, and whilst most houses recycle, glass and cardboard and tins they recycle very little plastic.
We have been told today by Kevin Lea, of Cotswold District Council that we cannot as a business use domestic recycling or public recycling banks we just have to pay a fee to put into landfill. How can that be?
Luckily for us and the environment we produce almost no waste at all, as antiques dealers almost everything can and is reused and actually always has been. A good expression in the trade is "if it ain't broke don't fix it ".
