My working life started as a Chef, then a few decades in sales and marketing then back as a hotelier and restaurateur. All during this time I had collected antique kitchenalia and food related items, as I doubled up on items, I started to also sell them so gradually became an antiques dealer! This evolution has been over the last 50 years and was formalised when I joined Top Banana 8 years ago. My stock is mainly Victorian and Edwardian with a smattering of interesting eclectic more 'modern day' items. Virtually all my stock is collectable, decorative but invariably useful, the rest borders on the quirky. Who would have thought that there was a need for a tool to take out the centre of grapefruits or that in the 1930's it was essential to have a special corkscrew to screw into your champagne cork which meant that it would act as a champagne tap!
