Not everything that glistens is green.
We did sell our best ring in the shop yesterday, a really decent emerald and diamond ring pictured. To some long standing customers of 30 years, who have recently got engaged.
On top of this we had the best day of the year so far possibly best single day of last year, after whats been a funny previous week in the shop although our website had been really good, we even have sold a sofa not necessarily top of the pops in January.
However one really good doesn't make a business, to cover the ever increasing work load of the website and to give clients attention in the shop they need and deserve we are taking on 2 new assistant managers.
We are sure that this will really add to our shop and feel that for the first time in a long while that really the antiques trade is climbing back up to being the vibrant business of pre 9/11 days.
Yesterday we had good private Americans in too buying strongly, one dealer who was thinking of leaving sold 2 items for over £1170 yesterday after consistently selling nearly every day for the last 8 days, after having the sense to restock and give it a good shot. Luckily our dealers nearly all work hard at bringing in consistency fresh and commercial stock which in the end always works.
