Moorcroft
Moorcroft founded in 1913 and as a potter who like the majolica makers over the previous 30 years, learnt to fix glazes in one place with the aid of tube lining and glazes that were fired at different temperatures so has not to run, making a brown modge.
His pottery has been produced for a hundred years now his early pieces like this one from the 1920s were signed and later on his son took up the mantle too, his pottery is still been produced today and as with all things the modern glazes reflect colours of today.
Early items tend to attract fairly big prices, the one opposite is called moonlight from c1929 another famous one is pomegranate c1930s we have some examples of this in the shop and on www.topbananaantiques.com
