Marcasite
Many people would be forgiven for thinking a facetted stone such as hematite or black onyx, except onyx to soft to facett.
Actually it is just faceted silver i.e. silver metal cut at an angle to grab or catch the light.
Given it a nice sparkly shiny effect. Similarly the use of platinum or white gold or even silver to mount stone in particular past or diamonds to reflect the light into the stones to again make then sparkle.
Marcasite became popular in the 1920's and through to the 1970's look at the clasps to help determine if antique or vintage generally if a c clasp older if a safety clasp later.
