Unfortunately old is not always gold, most antiques or even vintage either need to have style or quality or best of all both.
General vernacular items such as sofas and upholstered items will tend to be as valuable as the current trendy covering which often costs way more than the original item.
So we fear when "clearing one attic" your probably unlikely to find cash in the attic as normally the reason placed in storage in first place was unwanted, or out of fashion.
Fashion the third ingredient 30 years ago only your granny had a lava vase now he grandchildren are searching them out to have in their trendy homes and collect.
One of out American clients reckoned that items skipped a generation children despised what their parents had but coveted what there grandparents had.
Many of us buy what reminds of us of previous times and particularity from their childhood and all these things are generational and cyclical too. Meaning old can be gold but correct timing is vital.
