Interior design is a skill
Mixing items of furniture etc together to make a room setting is a skill, often perhaps aided by adding items of the same period and colour together.
However antiques can go very well in brand new homes and in fact can merge very well with brand new items. Strangely often modern manufactures copy antique items anyway no such thing as a new idea.
Often by adding a stand out item to the a mix, such as a bright 1930s picture of a parrot with some Georgian period items can work really well.
Whats more of course its fun searching out these items and getting it to work and work well.
