What is spelter?
Simply an alloy of tin zinc and lead. Which allows a light reasonably strong material which lends its self to be cast.
Which means you can have lots of detailed items produced comparatively cost effectively.
Often with good paint finishes etc, from a distance replicates cast bronze etc but a a fraction of the cost.
As the spelter oxidises, it takes on a interesting life in its own right not ideal for garden as a little brittle but great for conservatory's or sun rooms etc.
Of course well modeled items such a figures make great lamps and interior decoration.
