G.I.P or Georges Peirre

His company was one of the best known mass manafactures of jewellery made of horn.

The Emille Bronte factory started the fashion of using translucent horn pressed and then hand carved with the addition of stones of the art nouveau period c1900.

Blonde cow horn was used fro its translucent tortoiseshell like quality it was soaked in solution until plyable and then pressed into a mould to create the designs for brooches and pendant and earrings, with some hand carving andd colouring added after pressing.

Like so much antique jewellery, in recent years has become harder to find, beign horn its wonderfully light to wear and depending on the light never exactly the same looking every time worn.
