Dancing, Talking to the Camera… Or Actually Selling Antiques?
Have you noticed how many antiques videos now involve dancing, pointing at the screen, talking to the camera or performing a little routine to attract your attention?
Perhaps we're missing a trick at Top Banana. We could put the dealers on the stairs, teach everyone a dance routine and make them introduce every Georgian chest of drawers with a little jig!
But somehow, we think we'll stick to what we know best.
We just get on and sell antiques.
Five floors, 25 rooms and around 50 dealers, all busy finding, selling and sharing their passion for genuine antiques and collectables. No dance routines required!
Of course, there's nothing wrong with having a bit of fun on social media. Videos are a brilliant way to show people what's available and encourage them to visit. But at the end of the day, a clever video is no substitute for a good eye, knowledge of your trade and stock that customers actually want to buy.
Our dealers spend their time sourcing interesting pieces, researching their history, pricing them sensibly and helping customers find something special for their homes.
And if we happen to appear on camera, you can be fairly certain we'll be talking about antiques rather than demonstrating our latest dance moves!
Because at Top Banana, we believe the stock should do the talking.
