Council is batty

The real cost of being green, we applied for planning for solar panels, actually were to be placed on stands on rear of building on flat roof 5 floor up.
No one could see them, we were told needed a bat survey, £680 plus vat later and 15 minutes in the building to be told surveyor had come wrong time of year and whilst no bats evidence bear in mind we don't have a loft and nothing actually going on the roof, so all access for our little furry friends would be the same, and we like bats.
That another £4800 would need to be spent on further surveys, bear in mind panels costing £8000.
We use about a thousand pounds worth of power a month quiet a large user as a big shop, and by default would be saving the world a lot of pollution.
Antiques dealers have been the original recycler's and are greener then green we recycle reuse everything we can, all out rubbish is recycled too and everything possible from house clearances.
Yet it is being made prohibitively expensive to do the right thing, such as shame.
