Casting
Interestingly this silver jolly chap from Sweden is solid cast silver but also has a hand planished base.
The advantage of casting an item is once you have a mold it can be replicated many items therefore saving costs of manufacture.
Again if the molds are well detailed then detail can be obtained in the casting these of course will over time and many castings the crispness will diminish.
There is no end to what items can be cast in molds or via the lost wax system.
