Blue and Green
Since the start of time man has been attracted in particular to blue stones, Turquoise and jade were stones that, although mined often worked their way to the surface, and with skill could be carved and made into beads etc.
In Madagascar alluvial sapphires were much prized and of course the local tribes believed these stones to be holy.
It seems to add status and decoration the addition of a bracelet or necklace with addition of a coloured stone.
Of course now in particular with the addition of gold and silver both green and blue stones really pop, and with the addition of facetts / cuts to gem stones making the sparkler and stand out more and more.
