Auctioneer posted pictures of a single owner collection
Whilst antiques is a massive subject, and certainly no one knows it all, we @topbananaantiques with 60 odd dealers have a very good idea of most things, now an auctioneer should too and actually beyond this really with an office behind them actually know precisely whats what.
It was patently obvious, from the photos bar a vague grasp of the genre, no information of each item was given, patently as they didn't know, as it is in so many catalogues that the cataloger really only knows the brown jug is a brown jug as it does not state maker or date on bottom. I guess this is how dealers make a living by the auctioneers lack of effort. However they should be doing a proper job they are charging you the seller and the buyer nearly 60% fees.
When we buy we put our money literally on the table, no returns no refunds no going back deal done and when we sell we sell everything online guaranteed and returnable.
Recently an amazing jewellery set was purchased by one of our dealers "Austrian gold and gilt metal necklace" etc etc as confused by the Austrian 18ct gold hallmark, so often covering themselves in the manor of style of etc. Luckily for us the necklace of course is solid 18ct gold, and unlike us their lack of effort in getting a world hallmark book and spending time looking it up paid off for us. Auctioneers are particularly fond of selling yellow metal, we properly test all our stones and gold. So you are getting a guaranteed product.
