Antiques Road Trip Visit Top Banana
Today the BBC Antiques Road Trip paid a visit to Top Banana. We are a regular stop for the BBC, they've filmed here on several occasions, and today we were happy to play host to two of the show's regular experts, Paul Laidlaw and Christina Trevanion.
The wide ranging and exciting nature of our stock meant that we were able to satisfy both Paul and Christina's differing tastes and eyes for a bargain. After some old fashioned down and dirty trade haggling they made several purchases, all interesting pieces at great prices; a 19th century dress sword, a rare model corkscrew, a French silver snuff box and a WMF letter opener all from different dealers. Hopefully they will do well at auction with these items and raise a lot of money for charity.
The BBC team and experts were great to work with and were very good at not getting in the way of the day-to-day business of a busy shop. We had a fun filming experience and we got to see a lot of how the nuts and bolts worked in producing such a popular and entertaining show. I hope we did Top Banana and our dealers proud and that Julian's shameless flirting managed to extract a few more pounds out of Christina!
