Antique Late 18th Century Top Quality Tea Caddy Spoon in Sterling Silver, a fine example of the period and of an unusual style featuring a bowl after an Aztec Head dress complete with petal gallery fringe to a shovel like bowl which is chased with a triple closed panel of floral designs, finished with a dropped handle which is engraved to the terminal with a single letter 'M' in an ornate font the reverse to the spoon bowl is impressed with markings indicating Birmingham assay office circa 1790 with the makers mark for John Thornton, also present is the duty mark for King George III.

The Caddy spoon measures 9 cm in length and is in undamaged condition making it to be a fine addition to any growing collection of period silver ware as well as still as being very much useable, perfect for ones Leaf tea.
