The Queen's South Africa Medal was instituted by Queen Victoria in 1900, for award to military personnel and civilian officials who served in South Africa during the Second Boer War from 11 October 1899 to 31 May 1902. After the death of the Queen the new King Edward VII started to issue the King's South Africa Medal.

This is a great pair, one Queen's and one King's medal with the Cape Colony, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902 bars to the ribbons. Made from sterling silver, both are in good order as are the ribbons, please see the pictures. To the edge of the Queen's medal it is inscribed "1843 Pte. A. Bennett. D. of E. OWN V.R." to the edge of the King's medal it is inscribed "1843 Pte. A. Bennetts. D.E.O.V.R.C.".
