Antique Late 18th century Top Quality Sterling Silver 'Muffner' or table caster in the traditional Urn Pattern finished with a vented and pierced removable lid detailed with a Tudor Lattice pattern in closed galleries so as to resemble lattice glass windows of the period, the lid terminal being finished with turned acorn finial.

In Very good Antique Condition, the Muffiner being without dings, damages or repairs it makes for a lovely example of the period and still very much useable as well as a fine addition to an existing collection of growing English period silverwares.

The Muffiner stands 15 cm tall with lid in place and has a diameter to the foot of 5.6 cm, the collar to the Muffiner is impressed with markings indicating London assay office circa 1793 along with the makers mark for Solomon Houghman (Brother to noted silversmith Charles Houghman) also present is the early Duty Mark for King George III.
