Rare James Dixon & Son Faux Book Liquor Canteen Hip Flask Antique Victorian Circa 1890

Vinces Vault

VVV4075736T

Antique Late 19th century Rare example of a Surviving Gentleman's Novelty Beverage / Liquor canteen manufactured in Britannia Metal featured as a Green canvass Clad Book, amusingly the spine to the 'book' bears the title "A Pleasant Surprise" (James Dixon).
To open the canteen for pouring ones stored beverage simply twist off the top right corner of the 'book' to reveal the pouring nozzle and replace when done, safely storing it within ones library for a Pleasant Surprise.
The Item measures 11 cm x 11 cm x 2.5 cm in dimension and is impressed with the makers mark for James Dixon Ltd of Sheffield.
Overall good condition for age, some butting to the corners and small loss of canvas cladding, nothing serious.
Makes for a fine Antique novelty Hip Flask and highly collectible.
