A magnificent Georgian sterling silver loving cup, hallmarked Newcastle 1784. This rare two-handled vessel bears the distinctive Newcastle assay mark and date letter for 1784, with a maker's mark that may be attributed to the renowned partnership of John Langlands I and John Robertson I, though partially worn by time. The cup features exceptional detailing throughout, showcasing the craftsmanship of the period. A later inscription on one handle, dated 1840, records its presentation by the Whitby Union Mill Society, adding historical provenance and narrative to this piece. In excellent condition with all structural elements intact, this loving cup represents a fine example of Georgian silverware.
