Military Watercolour "The Thin Red Line" By Orlando Noire 1832-1901 Antique Victorian c1890
This fabulous military historic watercolour is by the renowned military artist Orlando Noire1832-1901 and is signed to a rock in fore ground and depicts the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders become immortalised as "THE THIN RED LINE" after facing down the Russian cavalry at the battle of Balaclava on the 25th October 1854 during the Crimean war.
500 men of the 93rd regiment led by Sir Colin Campbell aided by 100 walking wounded 40 detached guardsmen with support from the Turkish infantry formed a line of fire against the advancing Russian cavalry resulting in the most V.C.s ever awarded to Highland soldiers at any time.
