Antique Early Victorian period circa 1850's Good Quality pair of Cast bronze Candlesticks in the traditional desk Style featuring 'pushers' to the stem, a simple mechanical movement allowing one to eject the candle stub within the candle sconce when the candle is spent rather than digging it out as was the commonly the case especially with tallow candles and their desired to bleed.
Each candlestick is in well preserved condition for age with only minor wear present and each stud operated pusher in smooth running order, simply lift with a thumb to operate.
Standing 19 cm tall or 7.5 inches with a base width and breadth of 9 cm or 3.5 inches and a sconce diameter (to accommodate candle) of 1.3 cm or 0.3 inches they make for a handsome and very useable pair of period candlesticks for the home as well as a lovely decorators piece.
