Antique Late 18th Century Lovely Quality pair of Sterling Silver Sugar Nips / Tongs in a traditional bright cut detailed pattern finished acorn style spoon bowl terminals, the tongs retain a pleasing movement when used, nice and firm with a good spring back, the apex to the spine of the tongs features an oval cartouche engraved with the letters 'AB' the inner apex to the tongs is impressed with good clear markings indicating London assay office circa 1795 with the makers mark for Gabriel Wirgman, also present is the duty mark for King George III, the tongs measure 14 cm in length, will benefit from a gentle clean but are otherwise in original condition more or less.
