Antique Mid 18th Century Rare pair of Sugar Nips in the traditional style manufactured in Sterling Silver detailed to the frame and shanks with foliate chased details, the finger grips to the nips being finished with scrolled flanges and the terminals to the shanks of the nips boasting Plume fanned bowls.
The Sugar Nips when closed shut measure 12.5 cm in length, retain a smooth movement and are a pleasure to use in the hand, marked to the handle grips for London assay office with the makers mark for John Gorham whom worked from circa 1751 through to circa 1759,.
The Nips are in undamaged condition and date to circa 1755, during the late Reign of King George II
