Antique 19th Century French Altar Cross in Bronze Mounted on a Brass base with fittings including Corpus, In the classic French Gothic pattern the cross boasts a broad foot detailed with Fleur-Dy-Lys galleries and quad set stylised Cabriole legs, the bottom to the cross features the Skull and Bones in reference to a legend that the place of the crucifixion was also the burial place of Adam, the First man and is flanked by a duo of Robed Figures, likely Mary and Saint Anne, the top of the Cross to Jesus is Bud pierced and finished with traditional Gothic pattern studding, The Cross is in very good condition wit the mainstay being in cast Bronze and mounted to a cast brass foot with a mounted corpus, this cross was likely displayed upon an Altar or Sermon Dais during the period within a private Chapel or Shrine and dates to around circa 1870.
