Vintage circa 1930's Hand Carved Figure Head Parasol or Swagger Stick/cane handle in the form of a handsomely carved and detailed birds head, hand painted and set with red glass eyes, after what appears to be a wading bird, the shaft of the handle is in lacquered beech and the bird is finished with period adorned trinkets including a brass bell and plaited silk choker as well as a white celluloid fitted socket so as to serve for when secured a safety lanyard or similar.
Good Condition, light age related wear commensurate from handling no splits, repairs or holes making this to be a pleasing example that will serve for various pieces including parasols, dandy canes or even a walking stick.
The Item measures 8.5 cm in length and has a width of 5.3 cm from beak to back of head and the bottom socket to the terminal has a diameter of 8 mm so as to fit to a metal or wooden sprig.
