Antique Victorian period Top Quality writing stand pen rest with large sized pressed and cut glass ink well in a polygon drum style with a bright cut base, the surface of the writing stand is mounted with pierced, chased and fret cut ormolu mounts of an ornate design, each save the lower centre one being mounted with a silver cartouche bearing the Prince of Wales Feathers and the legend 'Ich Dien', this piece likely having been used within the Royal Household or similar during the period.
In good antique condition, no rot or worm to the ebony construction, ormolu fittings are entirely intact, glass inkwell is undamaged but missing its original lid (in place is a pierced sifter lid that serves its purpose).
The underside to the writing stand is mounted with triple set bun feet.
The writing stand measures 37 cm x 24.5 cm x 4 cm in dimension, the Inkwell stands 7.5 cm tall and has a base width and breadth of 10.7 cm x 10.7 cm.
An interesting antique piece, as pointed out could have been part of the Royal Households inventory (or similar).
