Antique Early Victorian Period circa 1850's Superb and Very Ornate Japanned Blotter in Black Lacquered Papier Mache detailed to the front with a fantastic gold painted design after a Japanese Floral theme including patterns after 'Kamon' and traditional cross hatching superbly inlaid with cut pieces of Abalone pearl including leaf details and cartouches, the design is central set to the blotter front within a closing gold painted oriental gallery set to the four corners of the blotter with a Moonstone roundel, the blotter opens on a leather spine to reveal original fitted interior in the form of a printed silk double panel featuring traditional Japanese tea Houses, Tree's, bridges and water, also present is a removable gauge vellum blotter intact with a few pages, some used, heavily foxed and showing sepia from old age.
