A French Silver Plate on marble plinth paperweight in the form of the recumbent figure of St Cecilia dating back to the Art Deco era. St Cecilia also spelled Cecelia, was a Roman virgin martyr and is venerated in Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and some Lutheran Churches. In the Middle Ages, Saint Cecilia became a very popular saint. She is remembered today as the patron of musicians, composers, instrument makers, and poets. There is a story that Saint Cecilia was said to have heard heavenly music inside her heart when she was forced to marry the pagan Valerian. In good used condition with minor tarnishing and wear to the silver plate with copper bleeding through, see pictures. Marked 'Despose CB' to one side.
