Antique Latter Victorian period circa 1880 Lovely Quality Ladies Writing Slope in Rosewood Veneer on Walnut detailed with beautifully cut and shaped Mother Of Pearl inlay in the form of stylised flowers finished with a central set ornate cartouche to the drop leaf slop feature, when opened the writing slope features a traditional upper gallery of compartments for storing a duo of inkwells, a dip removable pen rest with storage below along with a duo of lidded bins again for allowing one to store desired writing items for example sealing wax or dip pen nibs and what have you.

The writing slope feature is blue velvet matted with the upper slope area being liftable so as to allow one access to a storage compartment below for writing paper/vellum/envelopes e.tc, overall condition is good for age but the slope will need attention as the blue velvet panel covering the writing area to the slope is worn and will benefit from being re-secured or indeed replaced, also the escutcheon to the lock fitting on the top lid of the slope is missing, that being said the lever lock is intact but there is no key.
A Lovely Antique writing slope, showing mild age related wear but will restore handsomely with a little effort.
When closed shut the slope measures 35 cm x 25 cm x 9.5 cm in dimension or 13 x 9 x 3.8 inches.
