Antique Late Victorian Period Desk Bell in Cast brass as a Novelty figure of what appears to be Margaret Pole the Countess Of Salisbury c1474-c1571, Margaret Pole noted Historically for carrying a sheathed knife with her at Court (The Only lady to Do so).
Wearing traditional Tudor Garb and with a sheathed knife in one hand the figure stands tall and hides a bell knocker within her skirts and when shaken she makes a lovely sound.
The Bell is in very good condition for age, stands 14 cm tall with a base diameter of 5.5 cm.
A lovely example of the period dating to around circa 1890 and still perfectly useable as well as being a great decorators piece.
