Antique High Victorian Period well preserved example of an Apprentice Piece hand made miniature Wicker basket, an exact replica of a larger size these apprentice pieces were not only a test and a challenge for an apprentice to make but also eschewed materials and were also carried around as traveller samples so as to show to potential customers door to door during the period, "I say madam would you like a full sized incarnation of one of these baskets? i can have one made for you not a problem at all", they also made for fabulous Doll accessories for both Children and Ladies alike.
The Basket is in the traditional style, features a sliding lid 'as one' with the basket handle so as to never lose it and is intact with all weaving present making this to be a fine example of the period hand numbered to the base in ink.
The Basket stands 9.5 cm tall and has a diameter of roughly 6.3 cm.
