Antique High Victorian Period Gothic style Superb Example of a Surviving keepsake Locket in 15ct Unmarked Yellow Gold, of a traditional pebble shape with a convex body the locket features a hinged spine and flush opening to the side, the locket which when opened reveals a royal blue silk panel to one side and is vacant to the other, (note this is a keepsake locket so without purpose made bezel or glaze with which to install a portrait or picture but for precious keepsakes and memories).
The exterior to the locket features a magnificent mounted Croix with leafed corners and budded terminals, detailed with a centre set, dais platform mounted opal cabochon which corner set in its mount with old cut diamonds, the Croix is finished with pave set with single galleries of Opal Cabochons and accented to the terminals and to the leaf sprouts with old cut diamonds totalling 12 in number.
In Excellent condition throughout the locket will complete for wear with the addition of a silk ribbon, chain or string making for a fabulous piece of period jewellery.
The locket dates to circa 1870 and is presented in a period, fitted jewellers box to complete.
