Antique Mid Victorian Period Lovely Quality Almandine Garnet Set Bar Brooch in Ormolu, originally a bracelet counter clasp but later converted in to a wearable brooch, the mainstay of the bracelet likely having been salvaged or split up and shared amongst family or indeed sold as was not uncommon during the period to make ends meet.
Of an ornate design the brooch features a gallery of six individual eight point cut Almandine garnets enclosed with a Grecian Keyed wave pattern, the reverse to the brooch mounted with original fitted pin and clasp in working order, one edge to the brooch retains provenance and shows the socket fitting which would have taken a tongue from a push lock clasp on the original bracelet.
In Very good condition for age the Brooch dates to the circa 1860's and measures 3.3 cm x 1 cm with a depth of roughly 5 mm and is ready to be worn.
