Antique Japanese Meiji period circa 1880's Top quality, Free Standing, one piece hand carved Netsuke Foo Lion owning and mauling a fallen fruit, possibly the Natsu Mikan or a plum, the item no doubt being carved from said fruit tree depicted in the Netsuke.
Beautifully detailed the Foo Lion retains original miniature glass size With its main sprawling down its back and tail coiled around to the bottom of the fruit which is in turn complete with stalk and leaves.
There is a lovely patination to the wood there are no damages or otherwise present, it being in original condition more or less making for a fine example of the period and a wonderful addition to any collection or curio cabinet.
The Netsuke measures 5 cm x 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm in dimension or 2 x 1.4 x 1 inch.
The netsuke appears to be an unsigned piece.
