Antique Edwardian Period traditional styled Ink Stand complete with Lidded ink well in Sterling Silver, the inkwell being a marriage of course of pressed and cut glass finished with a hinged flip lid so as to serve for when writing with a dip pen.
Oval boat in shape with a scrolled edge the inkwell itself sits to the centre of the dish which serves as a pen rest within its own closed gallery purpose built socket cradle making it a removable, static piece and preventing the well from moving when used.
In Very good condition throughout with only minor wear present (no holes, repairs, dings or damage) the inkwell stand measures 17.7 cm x 9.3 cm x 1.5 cm in dimension with the inkwell proper measuring 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm x 4 cm in dimension, the ink stand is impressed with markings indicating Chester assay office circa 1905 With the makers mark for Robert Pringle of Clerkenwell Road, London, as with the inkwell lid which is engraved to the top of the lid with the legend that reads "Presented by the Members of the Thurston Mothers Meeting - To Mrs C. Hervey - April 28th c1908".
A Handsome antique inkstand, still perfectly useable as well as a lovely decorators piece.
