Antique Late Victorian Period Top Quality Belt Buckle manufactured in Sterling Silver, of an ornate design this wonderful two piece buckle features a heavily fretted and pierced frame featuring scrolled floral work and closing galleries of Blue Bell flowers to the centre in closed galleries, throughout the buckles design are heads of Babies or Cherub, this piece likely having served as a maternity Ward Matrons piece.

In Very good condition throughout the buckle is intact with double rails to the reverse so as to serve for when securing to a length of fabric for wearing about the waist as well as original hook and eye clasp.
The buckle when assembled and laid flat measures 12.8 cm x 7 cm and is impressed to both buckle halves with good clear markings indicating London assay office circa 1899 with the makers mark for Henry William Curry.
