Antique Early 19th Century Lovely Quality French manufactured Quad Pillared Portico Style Pendulum Mantle Clock with single bell chime in Ebonised Wood finished with Ormolu mounts including a beautiful Figure of a Robed and Winged Angel in flight to the foot of the clock and an ornate fretted floral cartouche to the top of the clock dais above the dial, the quad pillars are ormolu fitted at either terminals in the Doric column style, heavily turned with a platform graduation but without fluting, the base to the clock also features quad set ormolu quartered foot mounts.
The Clock dial is in silver and features an engraved, enamel detailed Roman Chapter Gallery display, the hour and minute hands are in black steel with penultimate halos, dial is set within a very ornate Floral Gallery relief in Ormolu, the clock pendulum is, as with the dial surround Floral themed and features as a large petalled flower, each of the petals themselves being relief detailed with a single flower, the pendulum head graduates up to a silver gilt and gilded Piped carriage with weighted adjuster to the centre so as to effect the beat of the pendulum swing enclosed within a floral cage with scrolled shoulders.
The reverse to the clock features the clock palette and contained movement along with the silvered bell chime and striking hammer, the movement palette is signed for 'Delaunay - Paris',
The Clock is in well preserved condition for age and without damage but there are signs of light cosmetic wear, it will benefit from a clean as it is somewhat dusty from long storage and although fully functional it has not been tested for time keeping and would likely benefit from a service.
The Clock stands 46 cm tall with a base width and breadth of 24 cm and 12.5 cm respectively.
Makes for a Truly Handsome and highly collectible time piece as well as a fantastic decorators antique for the home.
