Antique Georgian period circa 1800 Lovely Quality Map Compass manufactured in wood with detailed specimen inlay including Boxwood, Ebony and Maple as a repeating gallery pattern to the side wall of the casing which is inset with a hand painted nautical dial including North, South, East and West with increments between finished with a blued steel indicator hand finished with hand painted 'North' and 'South' decals, the dial is in good order and sits beneath original crystal which is undamaged.
Overall condition is very good for age there only being mild age related wear from use and handling over the years and the compass movement still functioning without issue.
The Compass measures 5.3 cm in diameter with a case depth of 1.3 cm.
