Antique Edwardian Period Lovely Quality Large Sized, Naples Bay Shell hand carved Cameo Brooch mounted in 9ct Rose Gold complete with safety chain and clasp, featuring a stylised Grecian Lady as the subject the cameo measures 6.3 cm x 5.5 cm including ornately worked frame and is intact to the reverse with hinged pin and clasp in working order.
The Gold Frame is impressed to the reverse with the 9ct gold mark along with the importers mark 'F.M' for Franz Mosgau (registered circa 1905 London), outwardly there is only mild wear to the brooch, it mainly being in need of a gentle clean and polish to shine again, the last two photographs included show the shell held against light so as to clearly see any cracks to the shell, as can be seen there are only mild stress lines, a result of temperature variations over the last 120 years.
