Antique circa 1800 or thereabouts superb Naive style oil on board painting featuring a scene of that of a Dog warding off an approaching Eagle about to take the body of a spent boy child, either ill and resting or indeed expired, laying there on a cot of blankets within a stone Grotto wearing a white gown with an empty red phial at his left naked left foot (the other foot shod), the scene is near dusk and the fierce dog is caught mid bark as the large Eagle is about to alight upon a ledge, on the floor below the dog are a series of glyphs or sigils (possibly artists signature) and an arranged ring of stones or pebbles very much resembling a dream catcher, most unusual, the painting is in good condition for age but will benefit from professional cleaning and is mounted within a convex shadow box style frame that measures 32.5 cm x 28 cm x 5.7 cm in dimension and the painting itself having an aperture of roughly 19 cm x 15 cm.
